Chef Yukihiro Takeda is the intellect behind this charming and focused sushi lair. The slim and rustic space welcomes all with an L-shaped counter abuzz with a handful of lucky diners. Brick walls, both glazed and exposed, make for a simple canvas, thereby allowing all eyes to remain focused on the prize—original and inspired nigiri.
Your meal may open with translucent slices of branzino augmented by vinegared jelly, shiso, and daikon. Then comes the nigiri, including the likes of sublime fatty tuna with a delicate brushing of soy; tailed by addictively chewy red snapper imbued with fresh citrus. A giant clam with lemon is a light delight; while a salmon roulade stuffed with a mix of tofu and mushrooms and served in a cool dashi is nourishing.
