This former row house of Hikone Domain boasts a nostalgic feel. The proprietress spares no effort; even the katsuo-bushi is shaved only after an order is placed. The signature dish is lotus root with hot Japanese mustard, passed down from the former proprietress, her mother. She’s also proud of the tsukemono made with rice bran prepared by her grandmother. Many of the dishes feature dashi made from the main ingredient itself rather than from katsuo dashi.
