The Aoyama Grand enjoys quite the privileged position, occupying the top few floors of a mixed-use high-rise in Tokyo’s luxe Aoyama district. It’s tough to think of a better diving board into the heady swirl of sophisticated streetwear, diverse culinary attractions, and name-droppable architecture below — or a better cocoon to escape to, floating placidly above it all. Rooms channel mid-century modernist swagger, each piece of furniture a low-slung statement piece on its own. Bracing, floor-to-ceiling city views balance the scales against elegant wood accents, quiet carpets underfoot, and the occasional patterned textile.
