Piedmont has plenty of attractive lodgings with vineyard views, but few on the level of Le Marne Relais. Set on the grounds of a winery in the UNESCO-listed landscape of Langhe and Monferrato, it’s made up of just fourteen rooms — some named for contemporary artworks, others for Piedmontese poets, while the treehouse-like Suspended House offers elevated views of the vineyards and the estate.
The Beauty Exists suite, for example, references a poem by Gianmaria Testa, and has supple acacia wood floors, a freestanding soaking tub, and wraparound windows overlooking the rolling hills; the Stay Close suite, taking a cue from Alessandra Scandella’s fanciful Mother Nature illustrations, features a walk-in shower facing a lush private garden.
The spa and wellness area features a 25-meter indoor pool, and food and wine are an area of particular focus: Radici, the restaurant, serves painstakingly locally sourced fare in the vault of the vineyard’s cellar, and wines from the estate’s Mura Mura label are in plentiful supply.
