Piedmont has plenty of attractive lodgings with vineyard views: what makes Le Marne Relais special is its connection to the arts. Set on the grounds of a winery outside Asti, the boutique hotel has just thirteen rooms, each named after the work of art that inspired it. The Beauty Exists suite, referencing a poem by Gianmaria Testa, has supple acacia wood floors, a freestanding soaking tub, and wraparound windows overlooking the rolling hills, while the Stay Close suite, taking a cue from Alessandra Scandella’s fanciful Mother Nature illustrations, features a walk-in shower facing a lush private garden. The treehouse-like House in the Vineyards is set slightly apart from the main buildings, as is the architecturally striking indoor pool, naturally illuminated by skylights and floor-to-ceiling windows revealing the surrounding landscape. Nearby, an airy terrace bar serves aperitivi and wines produced on the premises.
