It’s set not on the beach but by the side of the Sado River; guests gather by the poolside, or in the rooftop bar. Of the hotel’s 53 rooms, 31 are suites, and even the smallest single room is eminently livable, with all the essential comforts, high-tech and low. And at all levels they’re attractive spaces, minimalist in their broad outline but full of organic textures and natural materials. A café, a breakfast room, and a pair of bars keep guests restored throughout the day, and there are more to be found in town within a few minutes’ walk. Meanwhile the beach is also close by — as tempting as AlmaLusa may be, this coastline is something special indeed.
