All of The Stay’s six properties, in Istanbul and beyond, share a common ethos — modern art, high-end design, and environmental awareness are key components — but the Nisantasi location, designed by the Autoban studio and the noted architect Mahmut Anlar, is the most fashion-forward of the bunch. Its address might be the first giveaway: The Stay Boulevard Nisantasi is tucked between upscale shops, cafés, and restaurants in one of the city’s hippest neighborhoods, and the atmosphere extends onto the ground-level gallery, where the hotel has its own patisserie and sustainable clothing store. One flight up, via a staircase illuminated by a digital art installation, an art gallery and cultural space host exhibitions and acoustic concerts.
While there’s plenty of activity on the lower levels, the hotel’s rooms and suites are silent and sophisticated, filled with natural light and decorated in earth tones. All feature custom-made furniture and marble bathrooms with tubs and walk-in showers. The most standard options have Nespresso machines, while larger suites have equipped kitchenettes, separate living rooms, and spacious terraces with potted greenery and cozy wicker lounge chairs.
The best views are on the rooftop, where modern Italian cuisine is served al fresco overlooking the city and the Bosphorus. Other highlights include the traditional Turkish hammam and indoor pool in the hotel’s spa, which is adjacent to a large fitness center, the cool communal library, and the utilitarian lounge and bar on the lobby level.
