Two MICHELIN Keys · An exceptional stay
The Riviera Maya has become increasingly appreciated as the escape hatch from Cancún craziness, and the architecturally bold Rosewood Mayakobá raises the sophistication bar up several notches. In a word, this place is refined. The clean white lines of the resort’s pavilions interplay with the lagoons, lush landscaping, infinity pools and a dramatic coast-side golf course, while modern interiors respectfully nod toward the local aesthetic.
There are four dining and drinking options at Mayakobá, including a raw bar and a tequila library. This, to us, sounds like the perfect way to close down a strenuous day of snorkeling in the impossibly clear waters of the Yucatan, or worse, a full day of beachside lounging. Suites come with private plunge pools, roof decks and bathrooms worthy of Architectural Digest, and some borrow a page from the better South Pacific or Indian Ocean luxury resorts, with suites on stilts above the waters of the lagoon.
With the bounty of luxury to be experienced within Mayakobá, it is perfectly respectable to check in, savor your on-arrival tequila, and blissfully chill out until it’s time to go home. However, should the nearby Mayan ruins of Tulum or UNESCO’s Sian Ka’an biosphere preserve intrigue, the resort’s staff will gladly arrange tours, or set you up with a horse to ride, or a yoga session, or a deep-sea fishing excursion. They’ve got all the bases professionally and tastefully covered.
Cancun International Airport, 42 miles. Private, hotel–chauffeured transportation is available for airport transfers. Independent taxi services and car rentals are also offered at the airport.

Everything. The Room, The Service, The Atmosphere. This is the best hotel in the world. Literally.

We just had a 6 day break at the Rosewood Mayakoba and I have to say it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The resort is beautiful, set amid a lagoon, with canals leading to each villa and their own private docks. Our villa was very spacious with its own private plunge pool and rooftop terrace, although the decor is a little bit on the "beige" side (it is a large resort after all, not a design hotel). The main reason we loved it are the facilities on offer (3 separate pool areas, a world class spa, gym facilities and beach area) all of which can be reached via bicycles or golf carts (the resort is large). The service is world class with each room getting their own butler (We're had his service before at other resorts/hotels, but this was the only place I've been recently where you actually get to know the butler in person). Our butlers were amazing and even went as far as to get us something for an unset stomach as soon as we asked, and surprised us with a bubble bath after dinner. Service in all the resort restaurants and facilities we attentive and friendly. The one negative I would highlight is that the on-site food and drink is expensive, even taking into account the premium nature of the resort ($9 + 30% service charges and taxes for a can of coke by the pool/beach and its hard to eat for less than $100 for a single course meal for 2 people excluding alcohol). That being said, all the meals we had at the resort were consistently good. We hired a car which is something I would recommend, as it gives you freedom to do other things outside the resort. All in, one of the best breaks we have ever had and I would throughly recommend it.

Spectacular architecture and landscape. Impeccably maintained. Absolutely gorgeous. Staff beyond compare. The most incredible service I've ever experienced anywhere. Amazing.
