Contemporary Classic & Quiet
A few blocks from the 12th-century Gothic cathedral in medieval Saint-Brieuc, Edgar Hôtel & Spa occupies one of the city’s newer architectural landmarks. This stately mansion was commissioned by a wealthy shipbuilder in 1840, later serving as a convent and then a police station before it was transformed into a boutique hotel.

Period charm is plentiful in its grand ground-level spaces with original wood flooring and in attic-like suites with sloping ceilings beneath the building’s mansard roof, though the interiors are decidedly more modern than quaint. Rooms feature boldly patterned wallpaper and spacious bathrooms with walk-in showers, and many have floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the courtyard garden. Adding to the appeal are the glass-roofed restaurant and a small spa with a hammam and tea shop.
