Michelin and Robert Parker Announce Partnership for Michelin Guide Hong Kong Macau

Hong Kong and Macau collaboration follows the successful launch of the Michelin Guide Singapore

The world’s most influential brand names in the food and wine circles are joining hands yet again to produce a bit of Michelin magic.

For the upcoming 2017 Michelin Guide Hong Kong and Macau - Michelin's 9th edition in the territories - Michelin and Robert Parker Wine Advocate (RPWA) will be collaboratively producing a dining series and a slew of brand new digital initiatives, announced both parties at a press conference in Macau this afternoon.

The partnership between the two food and wine powerhouses is their second after coming together to launch the inaugural Michelin Guide Singapore in July 2016, which produced similar brand extensions into food and wine events, online and digital mobile app versions of the guidebook, and a gourmet lifestyle editorial website

Headlining the Michelin dining series for Hong Kong and Macau is the Michelin and RPWA Gala Dinner, the first ever Michelin-supported gala dinner in the two territories,

To be held on 11 Nov, a few days after the launch of the 2017 Michelin Guide Hong Kong Macau, the gastronomic extravaganza will feature culinary creations from seven globally renowned chefs specially flown in from France, Sweden and Japan for the evening. This will be complemented by top-rated wine selections by RPWA, as well as a visual feast by Oscar-nominated Hollywood costume designer Manuel Albarran. Members of the public can start purchasing their gala dinner seats through the brand new Michelin Guide Hong Kong Macau website (guide.michelin.com.hk) launched today.

Following the tradition from previous years, the guidebook’s selections will be unveiled on 9 Nov in an award ceremony in Hong Kong with awarded chefs, media and industry professionals in attendance.

As part of the dining series, Michelin and Robert Parker will also roll out an International Chefs Showcase featuring culinary creations by chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants around the world and paired with exquisite pours handpicked by RPWA’s esteemed team of wine critics.

First up in the line-up is Singapore’s own Julien Royer, who will be presenting his very first guest chef dinner since garnering two Michelin stars in the 2016 Michelin Guide Singapore for his nouvelle French restaurant Odette. The second showcase in November will turn the spotlight on American chef Curtis Duffy of three-Michelin-starred Grace in Chicago. A local street food showcase is also in the pipeline and will be announced at a later date.

Following the success of their tie-up in Singapore, Michelin and RPWA will jointly produce a fully searchable digital database and mobile app containing the full selection of the 2017 Michelin Guide Hong Kong and Macau, along with a gourmet lifestyle editorial website that will carry daily updated original articles on the latest restaurant news and food trends from Hong Kong and Macau as well as the latest Michelin-related developments around the world.

“The success of our cooperation in Singapore encouraged us to reiterate this series of events in Hong Kong and Macau, cities where gastronomy is synonymous with passion,” Bernard Delmas, Senior Vice President, said at the press conference.

“Fully independent from the selection process of the Michelin guide on the one hand, and from the selection process of Robert Parker’s wine ratings on the other hand, the aim of this collaboration is to offer food lovers a unique opportunity to enjoy an exceptional dining experience,” he added.
