Located on a busy block in the hillside neighborhood of Mets, Monastik Living in Athina is unassuming from the street. Once inside, it’s another story. Designed by the Athens-based architectural duo George Gavalas and Giannis Mourikis, this eleven-suite boutique hotel is a modernist escape showcasing a thoughtfully curated collection of Greek artwork and ephemera.
Each glass-walled room is bathed in natural light, and many face breathtaking views of the Acropolis or the Parthenon. Standard amenities include luxe king-sized beds, mood lighting, Marshall speakers, cozy sofas, kitchenettes with Nespresso machines, and welcome baskets filled with local delicacies; a few suites also have stylish private patios. A larger rooftop terrace with a plunge pool is open to all, a refreshing spot for a morning coffee — and especially impressive after dark, when the Acropolis is majestically illuminated in the distance.
